Students at all levels are welcome in this portrait class where they will explore values,
shapes, colors and edges. Instruction will include structure and proportions of the head.
You CAN paint a beautiful pastel portrait from your own large photo reference or one
provided.

My Latest Pastel Painting

"Gold and Scarlet"

This is my latest pastel painting. The model is my beautiful daughter, Jessica. I feel that "Gold and Scarlet" captures a feeling of another time and place.

"Out of the Darkness"

This photo is from a recent photo shoot that I was privileged to do of a gorgeous Friesian stallion and his lovely owner, Stefanie. I entered this photo in the Equine Photographers Network contest. It has been chosen by the judges to be in the top ten to be voted on for peoples choice.

I am honored to report that at the Arizona Art Alliance Spring 2009 Fine Art Show & Sale, I received the Presidents Choice Award of Excellence! It is awarded for a body of work. In the photo you can see my four paintings that were included in the award. I also received an Honorable Mention from the jurors for the painting of my cat with a vase of sunflowers titled: "Feline Finesse" I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the President of AAA along with the board for selecting my work!

WINNER Opulence Contest on Fine Art America
The scenery is antique, classic, spells style.. The lady is wearing a beautiful silk dress, probably hand made, with fur wrap around her neck. Her whole stance is of a lady that is independently wealthy. She looks like she does not have to fake wealth as it comes naturally to her, (see her relaxed position.)
The image is set in a time of grandeur. The colours of the image, beautifully executed in pastel, are all balanced and set the tone.
The judges unanimously agreed on this image as a winner.

The City of Glendale Art Council Show at the Saguaro Ranch

This is a pastel painting of my beautiful daughter, Jessica. She is dressed in a gown which was worn by my Mother in the 1940’s. We styled her hair to fit the era and added my Grandmother’s costume jewelry. This painting placed second in the City of Glendale Art Council Show at the Saguaro Ranch. It is an annual event that brings in artist’s from all over the state.
